The Museum is located in the district of La Atrevida (The Daring) in the intersection of Gabino Barreda and Manuel Gallardo Zamora streets. To arrive to this cultural enclosure from the Historical Center of the City, specifically from the Torres Quintero garden, you will go 7 blocks towards the north by Gabino Barreda street, arriving to the university complex, commonly known as the IUBA, where the forum Pablo Silva GarcÃÂa is located, as well as the esplanade of the craftsman, contiguous to the building of the University Museum of Popular Arts Ma. Teresa Pomar.
Atractions The building of the museum is inspired by the traditional houses of Colima, with a central patio and corridors with arcs around them. You’ll have the feeling of being in the interior of a traditional house, where the rest area is located in the central patio of the building for your healthy recreation.
This museum, known as University Museum of Popular Arts Ma. Teresa Pomar or Museum of the Mask, lodges an important collection of Mexican, unique popular art on its genre in the country, where you can see an exhibition of objects made by craftsmen who work with great mastery and creativity to satisfy their needs, elaborating utensils of daily, religious, ceremonial, festive or ornamental use, in which they indicate their practical sense, beliefs, ingeniousness, sensitivity, spirituality and settling, among others.
In this university space are exhibited all the artisan branches that practiced in our country, emphasizing the wood, the textiles, the vegetal fibers, leather work, the paper, the traditional ceramics, metal works, traditional toy making and lapidary; complemented with other spaces dedicated to the popular painting, life and surroundings as well as popular imagery that represent the work of the different ethnic groups that live from the north to the south of the Mexican Republic.
In the cube of the incline that leads to the second level, the teacher Gabriel Portillo del Toro made a fresh mural with the subject of popular culture of Colima.

El Museo se ubica en el barrio de La Atrevida en el cruce de las calles Gabino Barreda con Manuel Gallardo Zamora, para llegar a este recinto cultural desde el Centro Histórico de la Ciudad, especÃÂficamente del jardÃÂn Torres Quintero, usted se dirigirá 7 cuadras hacia el norte por la calle Gabino Barreda llegando al complejo universitario, comúnmente conocido como EL IUBA, donde se ubica el foro Pablo Silva GarcÃÂa y la explanada del artesano contiguos al edificio del Museo Universitario de Artes Populares Ma. Teresa Pomar. Atractivos Además de las exposiciones, en la planta baja podrá disponer del acervo bibliográfico y videográfico especializado en arte y cultura popular de la biblioteca.
Entre los servicios que se ofrecen son las visitas guiadas, asesorÃÂas de investigación en el área de las artes populares, un taller de cerámica que reproduce objetos relacionados con las culturas del occidente prehispánico.
