From the city of Manzanillo or Colima you can move by the quota highway or by the free one, until arriving to the deviation towards the Municipal head of Ixtlahuacán, in the crossing of Turla. Once in the road to Ixtlahuacán, and arriving at this municipal head, you have to continue straight ahead until arriving to the arcs of the entrance to the city, and by the main street you arrive to the south flank of the plaza of the town, in which to a flank is located the Municipal House of Ixtlahuacán
This place is possible be acceded by different means of transport, in own or rented automobile, following the signallings towards the city of Ixtlahuacán. In passenger bus it is necessary to get down in the crossing of Turla and to take a taxi that drives you to the municipal head.

After 171 years of having the practice of these indigenous governments that renewed every year, arises a structural change in its system of government, now sustained in the legal bases of the Constitution of the Spanish Monarchy, to turn those old indigenous governments into “Constitutional City councilâ€Â. On January 22, 1826, Ixtlahuacán is granted to have its own City council
With respect to the existence of the “House of Government of Ixtlahuacánâ€Â, we found here that in the year of 1910, on September 16, Governor Enrique O. de la Madrid celebrated in the city of Colima the “First Centenary of Independence of Méxicoâ€Â, and also here he gave lecture to his second government report. The works mentioned there are not monumental, but they have public utility, and among them he mentions the construction of (strong)“the Municipal House of Ixtlahuacán and the Water Fountainâ€Â. We do not know the shape of this building. The only information available is just that it was located in the same place
In 1912, being Governor of Colima J. Trinidad Alamillo, on September 16 in his Government Report, he mentions that in Ixtlahuacán by the pressure of the time, it was only possible to realize the alignment of the main plaza and some streets, the “rounds†monitoring service was created, managing to repress the disorder, and a jail was constructed in the “Municipal houseâ€Â.
In the administration of Mayor J. Jesús Mariano Hernández (1946-1948) is mentioned in the works of Government, the reconstruction of the “Municipal Houseâ€Â, which had on: A horse armor of jarana to the front, leaving the access to the building, whose facade and over the fore door had drawn in relief an eagle devouring a serpent and surrounded by the motto of the Mexican United States, and by both sides and in the ceiling they excel the words “Municipal Presidencyâ€Â. In the administration of Municipal President BenjamÃÂn Barajas Gallardo (1949-1951), they demolished great part of the Municipal house because of being in bad conditions. In the period 1952-1954, the municipal house was reconstructed
In period 1965-1967 the demolition of the Municipal House takes place to raise a more modern building, having by facade, circular columns that support a corridor with arcs, and placing the first clock on a little tower in the ceiling. In the administrative period of Municipal President José Cortés Navarro (1995-1997) a new clock was placed and the little tower that supports it was modified
Finally, in the administration of Germán Virgen Verduzco (2001-2003) the interior of the Municipal House was remodelled, reconditioning the reception room of the President and constructing the computer center of the police and a new jail, besides acquiring several computer equipment, modernizing its functions. And on August 8, 2003 the Constitutional Governor of the state of Colima, Fernando Moreno Peña and the Municipal President Germán Virgen Verduzco, inaugurated the remodelled facade of the “Municipal House†of Ixtlahuacán, with squared columns (they were round before) and marked arcs and marquee, red floor on the front corridor. It was tried to give to this work a complement of the house of the culture and the surroundings of the center of this municipal head, and to provide it of a better atmosphere.
