Atractions The present building of this church is relatively new, because its construction began in 1946. We know that in century XVII, and perhaps since century XVI, a small hermitage existed there to which the documents referred to it as the one at the exit of Camino Real to Tonila". In century XIX it was replaced by a chapel dedicated to the Precious Blood of Christ. From this time dates the fountain that adorns the atrium, that long ago served the neighbors to provide them with water. And it was when there werenÂ’t automobiles yet in this district. People guided their steps and their tasks bell blow; their life turned around the temple that father ElÃas De la Mora built.
Damaged by the 1941 earthquake, it was decided to demolish the chapel to construct a new temple. Father ElÃas De la Mora, who was in charge of the work, was a singular character. His extraordinary physical strength was proverbial; there is one who affirms that he was able to lift a yearling calf without more aid than his arms. But what gave him fame was his wild occurrences, that gave him the nickname of the flying cassock. It is said that because of the slowness of the authorities to demolish the old cupola that threatened falling, and desperate to initiate the construction of the new one, he decided to dynamite it. The amazing thing was that having it done during the day, nobody would got wounded, not even him, who personally ignited the wick.
