The municipal market is located in the Historical Center of Manzanillo, between Independence, May 5, Vicente Guerrero, and Cuauhtémoc streets.

The market can be acceded by automobile or taxi, besides the different urban bus routes.

Between 1930 and 1940 existed a small market in the lot of the Linares building, in the south-east corner of Francisco I. Madero and Cuauhtémoc streets. In 1936, Reform market was inaugurated, which was where at the moment is established a commercial center; block formed by Torres Quintero street in the north, Carrillo Puerto in the West, Miguel Galindo in the South and México Avenue in the East

Being President of the Municipality of Manzanillo Arturo Castro Guizar (1968-1970) the May 5 market was constructed, between Guerrero and Cuauhtémoc streets, and gave shelter to the locataires of the Reform ex-market

In 1995, because of the October 9 Earthquake, May 5 Market suffered some damages, reason why it had to be demolished, and later constructed again, being inaugurated in the month of June, 2000, by Fernando Moreno Peña, Constitutional Governor of the State of Colima and Martha Leticia Sosa Govea, Municipal President of Manzanillo.

El Mercado municipal se localiza en el Centro Histórico de Manzanillo, entre las calles Independencia, 5 de Mayo, Vicente Guerrero y Cuauhtémoc.

Se puede tener acceso al mercado en automóvil o taxi, además de las diferentes rutas de camiones urbanos que pasan por este sitio.
