Atractions
This small but pleasant museum is part of the Nogueras Cultural Set. In this thick wall construction are four rooms that contain an impressive collection of reunited pre-Columbian pieces and donated by Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo, who gave them to the University of Colima for its exhibition. They are ceramics pieces only from the region of Nogueras, municipality of Comala, whose common characteristic is its excellent structure and enormous esthetic quality. Rangel Hidalgo tells that it took him 40 years to form this collection: gotten from my own subsoil, there is no piece that comes from afar, it is a site museum, from the same site where these wonders appeared.
Both the architectonic project, that included the restoration and adaptation of the house of the Chaplain of Nogueras Ranch, and the script and the museum installation were made by Rangel Hidalgo himself, who had support from Gabriel Gómez Azpeitia, , Juan Castillo Parra, and Juan Carlos Reyes. Following the indications of Alejandro, the most impressive section of the museum is the Room of the Furnace, call thus because its design tries to emulate the interior, all red, of the silversmithâs furnace where the ceramics pieces were heated in the antiquity. It is a crucible, where the four elements: earth, water, wind and fire, made the wonders possible that are exhibited with extraordinary care in each of the display cabinets
In other rooms of the museum are exhibited drawings, paintings and furniture realized by that remarkable artist. Also, there are numerous Christmas cards that filled the world during many years and which design gave him international prestige, distributed by the UNICEF. Finally, the museum has the installation of a colimense rural kitchen in which furniture, utensils and accessories used in the region during century XIX are exhibited. It is a museum that is worth the pain to visit.
