It is recommended to go by automobile and in kilometer 7 of road 110, from Colima to Tepames, you will find a signalling that says: To the Summit (A La Cumbre), indicating one well finished breach of 3 kilometers that raises 300 meters and when you get to the top of the hill you will find the Summit.
Also you can ride the bus that goes from Colima to Tepames and get down in the entrance of the way that communicates to the Summit.
Circulating through the road that communicates the city of Colima with the community of Tepames, you will see a deviation to the right that leads to the Summit. In the superior part of this hill is the Station of Microwaves, as well as the antennas of cellular telephony. There is a great chapel from where the beautiful landscape can be admired. The valley of Colima looks like a colorful mosaic furrowed by the rivers and roads that surround the city and the adyacent towns. The maize and tamarind plantings contrast with the mountainous area tenuosly drawn in the horizon and which they cross zigzagging the valley forming deep gorges. The road to the Summit, narrow and paved with stones, is surrounded by abundant vegetation that, sometimes lets glimpse the distant horizon.
The City council of Colima declared great part of the hill of The Summit a zone of ecological protection, with the purpose of increasing the vegetal and animal species that live there. On Sundays and holidays can be observed intrepid flying men who audaciously jump in gliders from the highest part of this promontory.
On one crypt rises a monumental circular chapel formed by half point arcs, and as a finishing touch, a cupola that is crowned with the image of the immaculate Virgin in great scale; monument that at the beginning of January, 1954 initiated the General Vicar and Canon Mariano de Jesús Ahumada, as a tribute of the city of Colima in the Mariano year. It initiated opening a road through those inaccessible slopes and in 1957, year in which he died, when it only remained 500 meters to arrive to The Summit, he improvised a chapel done of wood and from December 8, 1954, he began to celebrate mass establishing the custom to do it days 8 of every month, beginning therefore the pious pilgrimages.
After his death Monsignor de Alba took charge of his works, who finished the road and began the works on the project of architect and Pbro. Pedro Castellanos.(
Since 1961 the crypt is in service with an ample chapel. From several kilometers the arcs that maintain the monumental cupola can be seen. The master bricklayer of works of the Cathedral, Maximino Calvario, was the constructor of this work since it initiated in 1954.

* First, making long walks as exercise by the way that communicates the base of this hill with its Summit. The approximate distance is 3 kilometers, with an unevenness of approximately 300 meters of altitude difference. It is recommended a good aerobic level and to go in groups of travellers to avoid the solitude and the inherent dangers. * Second, the practice or appreciation of the free flight using a delta wing or hang-glider; in the top of the Summit there is an enabled incline to perform the takeoffs. Colima has taken fame to count on one of the best sites of the country to practice this activity since it is one of the few places in México where all the year can be flown, because it has excellent airflows for its practice. It is recommended to contact to the Association of Free flight of the State to clarify important details.
